Malta, Private Tours, up to 4h
5. MARSAXLOKK – MDINA – BIRGU
This private, half – day, guided tour of Maltese history and heritage. We will pick you up from your hotel from where we will then travel to Marsaxlokk via private transfer.
This seaside, traditional fishing village is famous for its colourfully vibrant “Luzzu” traditional fishing boats and is most noteworthy for the market held every Sunday. The local restaurants are also superb, offering freshly caught seafood cooked in a variety of different, deliciously enticing ways. With many notable traditional Maltese dishes, such as “Aljotta” an immensely flavoursome fish soup, Torta tal-Lampuki which is a pie made with the fish known locally as Lampuki (the traditional catch for the Maltese “Luzzu” vessels), Pixxispad Mimli or succulently grilled swordfish and Spaghetti biz-zalza tal-qarnit, a spaghetti served with some flavoursome octopus in a mouth – watering tomato sauce.
From Marsaxlokk the tour then travels to the Malta’s very first capital city, Mdina. Know today as the “Silent City”, Mdina has history dated back to antiquity and is one of Malta’s most visited tourist sites, with an impressive array of monuments and attractions within its fortified walls. Most of the buildings that remain today were built in a baroque style with many buildings and pieces of architecture well preserved from 13th century. Mdina today has around 243 residence and is also a popular filming location, having been featured on the mammoth HBO television series “Game of Thrones”.
Then onto the “Città Vittoriosa”, know commonly as Birgu, the first seat of the Knights of the Order of St. John. Situated on the Grand Harbour, historically serving as a port for many settlers, Birgu is the last stop on this tour. The areas surrounding the Grand Harbour, of which Birgu forms a significant part, houses the most well-preserved historical architecture on the island. The Grand Harbour’s deep docks has served many navies, being an incredible safe haven for their warships. Today Birgu is primarily a beautiful marina, boasting viewpoints with an unforgettable panorama of Valletta.
At the end of the tour you will be taken back to your accommodation.
If your group wishes you may add optional attractions. We recommend visiting sites such as St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina. Which can be booked through the reservation form.

Malta tour with a private driver who picked us up directly from the hotel and was at our disposal at all times was the best choice for our group of 6. We visited Malta calmly and without haste - the guide fantastically adapted to the expectations and pace of the tour for participants

Active holidays - yes, seaside relaxation - all the more! During our guided walk along the beaches and cliffs, we also found a moment to rest and contemplate the Mediterranean landscape, accompanied by refreshing local specialties and Maltese landscape-well recommended!:-)
